Our Kids Are Not Stress

Ever since I became a mother I've made it a habit of talking to other mothers. I talk to strangers about their kids. I know mothers in this country are more stressed compared to other countries. I'm in it and know the feeling.

I know what it means to have little or no sleep at night and still have to be awake during the day.

The feeling of thinking you are the only mother with kids acting up and scared to take them out.

The fear of loosing your mind because they don't listen or obey you.

The thought of you are not a good enough mother to your kids due to pressure from other mothers.

You are not alone in this season. You are okay as long as you remain the boss to your kids. Constant discipline and lots of prayers will one day pay off.

What helps me most is starting my day with prayers. Praying for a good attitude towards my kids despite thier crying and nagging. Asking God for strength each day is all we need as mothers.

I look at kids as a blessing and not stress. They need us to thrive in life and we are the best mothers they will ever have. We have to learn to have a good attitude towards them despite our never ending schedule.

Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him. (Psalm 127:3 NIV)

Why should most parents say thier kids are stress?

Bringing up kids in America is very challenging because of other circumstances. School, work, demands/ responsibility from your home country, societal pressure are contributing factors to stress.

Our children are a gift from God and not stress. They may slow us but we should not forget what a blessing they are.

Setting our priorities straight and learning to be content is huge in this season of life.

Investing time and forming good relationship with our kids is priceless. They need us to teach them how to go about life.

Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it. (Proverbs 22:6 NIV)

Remember that if you don't teach them, society will. We want to be the first teachers in thier life, instructing and guiding them. Yet, allowing them to make mistakes and learning as they go.

When I say mistakes I mean there are consequences to bad behavior. Kids learn differently and will want to explore for themselves. Some adventures are good and some are not so good.

My prayer for my kids is that may thier mistakes not kill them or anyone else. May the light of Christ shine in their hearts and illuminate outwardly. May they seek to know The Lord daily and draw others to him.

Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. (Deuteronomy 6:4-7 NIV)

Cut down on your activities and motherhood will be less stressful. Remember kids are a blessing and a gift from God. Kids are not stress, what brings stress is over activity and other commitments.

It is okay to say no to commitments to be with your kids.
