How God gave me a new sight
Two years ago my husband and I went through an eye opening spiritual storm. It was made clear to us that those we had called friends where in a cult. We had no idea about this until Christ Jesus revealed to us all what was in the dark.
Therefore judge nothing before the appointed time; wait until the Lord comes. He will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will expose the motives of the heart. At that time each will receive their praise from God. (1 Corinthians 4:5 NIV)
We had friends that had gotten so close to us and almost was like family. We dined and had lots of functions together because all we could see was their outside.
We had no reason to be judgemental or question thier friendship until God's appointed time.
What got us frustrated was, they tried to get us involved blindly. Praise be to God in heaven for always watching over his children.
These friends convinced us to use thier vacation package they did not need anymore. It sounded so true and clean we accepted. On arrival at the town of the vacation, we had a call everything had been cancelled. Since it was late at night, we insisted and went to the hotel because we had booked and reserved this six months prior.
Before we left the airport we prayed what I will call the most powerful prayer our family ever did.
" Dear Jesus, we are in a strange town with two children. It is almost midnight and it looks like we don't have a place to spend the night. Go ahead of us and settle things with the hotel before we get there. Shine your light on us in this darkness. All the glory be given to you only. Amen"
When we got there, strangely a room was available for us. They said a meeting for us had been rescheduled for 11 a.m. We did not know about any meeting.
Usually, if the room is small I always request for a bigger one which should not be a problem. This time, my husband had a bad feeling about our suit. He requested that they move us to a different room. This could not happen because we were told that room had been kept specially for us. Weird right!! First clue something was not right :-(.
We finally settled in and went to sleep thanking God for giving us a room. At about 2a.m., our 11months old woke up screaming. We realized she had a fever.
We usually keep the bathroom light on for lighting and direction. We realized it was off and the room was totally dark. Our thinking was, the darkness might have scared our baby, and how did the lights turn off.
Not a good thing to happen on our first night on vacation. Because of the sickness we called the so call conference and cancelled the 11am meeting for the next day.
I stayed back in the hotel trying to make sure our baby got enough rest and prayed for God to heal her. My husband took our 2 year old out to play so her sick sister could rest.
While out, hubby decided to checkout the site of the conference. There, he was not received well becaue he came with a child. He was told children are not allowed in the premisises and that I must be present, or our names will be taken off the list. At this, my husband opted out due to all the conditions. Second clue of danger!
They asked him if his friend did not explain to him the conditions. That he was supposed to know by now.
The question is; Know about what? We taught it was a regular wine tasting restaurant. Also, that they will try to convince us to buy a timeshare. Which we knew we did not want anyways.
My husband and daughter met with us at the hotel later so we could go for launch. He explained all that had happened to him.
As we left our suit, we met with a girl with some disabilities. What I saw was a girl struggling to walk on her own that needed help. Her eyes where directly on us. My husband saw a girl but could not see her face. He did not tell me what he saw because he was in shock mode.
We went out and had launch and drove around town praying that our baby gets better with Tylenol and Mortrin.
Back in the hotel at night, we went on our knees and called out to God for healing mercies. We had a wedding to attend while on vacation but with a sick child things could change.
At about 2a.m., our baby woke up again screaming, we all woke up and prayed with her. For some strange reason, the image of the disabled girl we saw came to my mind this night. I asked my husband if he remembered the girl we met while leaving our room in the afternoon.
This is when he told me what he had seen. He said, "Etonde for some reason I could not see her face. I saw her body but her face was blank".
At this point we knew for sure this was a set up. Third clue! God brought our thinking together. He opened our eyes to the darkness we where in. Talk about praying in the Spirit!
We prayed thanking God for his goodness towards us. We asked for the blood of Christ to be pourd on us. For under that blood there is protection. All we needed was divine protection. We used scripture to pray claiming His promises.
God had just revealed that we where in a spiritual warfare. He had also opened our eyes to who really our friends where.
Our Heavenly Father knew all the plans the devil had before us for He is all knowing. He used our baby to prevent us from attending a cultic conference. God protected us from the terror at night. All the glory and honor to be given to Him only.
He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart. You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday. (Psalm 91:4-6 NIV)
We returned to Indiana a week later with our new God given sight. Still in shock for all what had happened to us.
I'm part of the nursery ministry in my church and we had a meeting the following day. After the meeting I explained to my pastor and church administrator all what had happened.
What I got from them was the final confirmation that we had been set up. "yes Etonde! I worked in that area and I've heard about the girl without a face. It is a cult."
I quickly called my husband and told him. We where amazed at all what had happened to us. We were victims but God made us victors.
We were able to reflect back and connect all the dots. We confronted our friends and told them we knew what they did. Also, that we are followers of Christ and want nothing to do with the darkness. And will appreciate if they stay away from us for now.
We have been praying for them ever since then. Hoping that God shines his light on them according to His divine will and purpose.
I know for sure that this happened so I could spread the word of the goodness of God. Our Heavenly Father is all powerful, omnipresent and ever faithful to all who call upon him. All who seek him will fine him. We are conquerers already because of the blood of Christ shedded on the cross.
This is our testimony and you can have yours if you surrender your life to Him.
No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:37-39 NIV)
We are at constant war with our enemy (the devil). Be consistent in prayers!
