The Gift of Prophecy

I am not one of those who go around looking for people to prophesy about the future.

Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. (Matthew 6:34 NIV)

There are lots of false prophets out there and people have to watch out for them. 

“Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. (Matthew 7:15 NIV)

My personal relationship with my savior Christ is enough for me. I've experienced the the work of the Holy Spirit in my life.

The Holy Spirit can only be experienced personally for one to belief. It is the power of God in a supernatural way. Others will call you crazy but other believers in Christ know what you are talking about.

Some believers are blessed with this very special gift. Below is one the passages of spiritual gifts;

Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues. (1 Corinthians 12:7-10 NIV)

Personally, with my experience as a Christ follower I believe  a prophecy should be to strengthen, encourage and comfort believers. 

But the one who prophesies speaks to people for their strengthening, encouraging and comfort. (1 Corinthians 14:3 NIV).  Which is also what the bible tell us.

 This is what the prophet Joel wrote about the words of The Lord;  “And afterward, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions. (Joel 2:28 NIV)

I'm blessed to have received this poured out Spirit. I'm a daughter of the most high God.

This summer, my family has been church searching. We love our church for 5 years but need to look for one close to our home. This journey has been such an eye opener for us. 

There are different ways of worship and looking for one that you feel comfortable with can be hard work. As long as it is the same God they worship you should be able to figure it out.

This past Sunday, we had plans to visit a church for the second time. Plans changed 30 minutes before church. We were running late and decided to visit another church that was starting right on time with our schedule so we won't be late. Least to say, the Holy Spirit was at work and we had no idea until what we experienced happened.

We got there on time and noticed they had a guest speaker. This meant we won't get a feeling of the pastor but will experience their style of worship.

The guest speaker was Keith Hudson and his wife Mary, (Parents of Katy Perry) the famous pop star singer. All I knew about Keith at this point was he is a pastor. I had no idea about his wife and their ministry ( Keith Hudson Ministry). 

His sermon was very powerful and I realized both him and his wife are a team.  They have the gift of Prophecy.

At this point I started praying asking God to reveal to me if this was from him. I do this whenever a style of worship is new to me. 

He pointed out people from the service and prayed over them with encouraging words about certains things in their life's.

I kept praying, but now I could tell in my spirit he was going to come my way. He came towards us and pointed at the couple next to us and went away.

I was happy it was not me but kept saying please don't come back here. Yes I was ready for the service to end. Deep in my spirit I knew the service will not be over until he came to us. Our spirit had aligned and I could feel it. 

 My worry was, Lord this is our first time in this place and this will be weird. I felt like I was having a talk with God. No please not us. Well you asked me to reveal to you if this is real. 

Just then, Keith and his wife walked towards us and asked us to stand. He started talking as if he was that voice I was having the talk with. 

" I know you where hoping I should not point you out. You are sitting here wishing I should not come your way." At this I knew it was the Holy Spirit at work.

All what he said to us was a confirmation of what is going on in our life's. The things God has been directing us on doing. The Holy Spirit used him to encourage us about what God had already placed in our hearts. 

It felt as though Keith was in our home during all our talks. This was not Keith or Mary Hudson talking. This was the Holy Spirit at work in them.

My husband and I looked at each other after the prayer and stayed speechless. We talked about it a little and I am  still praying about the whole experience.

We did not plan on attending this church but God had it planned already. He took us there to clear our doubts and affirm our faith in the things he has placed in our hearts.

God gave us His Spirit as our helper and comforter. The Holy Spirit is evident and very powerful. It is part of theTrinity - Father- Son- Holy Spirit. Three persons in one God.

We have the Holy Spirit to help us while on earth. The only way to the Father is through the Son (Jesus Christ). God is Holy of Holies and there is no other god like him. He is a personal God. 

There is power in the Holy Spirit! Christ in us the hope of glory.

"the mystery that has been kept hidden for ages and generations, but is now disclosed to the Lord’s people. To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory." (Colossians 1:26-27 NIV)
