He is our refuge
If you leave in my area then, you must have been up early due to the storms. The sound of thunder and lightening where so strong and loud.
I woke up to the loud noise it caused waiting to see if my kids will hear them. Before long, both girls came rushing straight into our room and on our bed looking for refuge. We could notice the fear and fright on their faces.
They rushed to us because they see us as their refuge. They know nothing will happen to them if we are around. They felt safe and went right back to sleep knowing daddy and mommy are next to them.
I prayed that God should calm the storm and to keep us safe.
All I could think of was how powerful is our God in Heaven. He created the storms and lightening also. What a powerful God he is.
Just like my kids run to us, God wants us to run straight to him when afraid. He is waiting with open arms to embrace and comfort us through the storms of life. He should be our rescue not anyone else or an idol.
If you say, “The Lord is my refuge,” and you make the Most High your dwelling, no harm will overtake you, no disaster will come near your tent. (Psalm 91:9, 10 NIV)
His promises are true if we obey Him and He will protect us when we acknowledge him.
Is the Mosy High your dwelling? Do you run to Him for safety and protection? Do you acknowledge how powerful He is?
“Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. (Psalm 91:14 NIV)
