A Faith Based Religion

A man with leprosy came to him and begged him on his knees, “If you are willing, you can make me clean.” Jesus was indignant. He reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!” Immediately the leprosy left him and he was cleansed. (Mark 1:40-42 NIV)

When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralyzed man, “Son, your sins are forgiven.” (Mark 2:5 NIV)

It is a faith based religion. Christianity is a walk by faith and not sight. Faith is believing in what we have not seen. We trust God although we have not seen him but, have confidence in his word (the absolute truth) for our life.

In our faith walk, God grants us sight. He opens our eyes to the things he wants us to know about him. He shows us things we can not see with our human eyes. I will share more on how God opened my spiritual sight later. We are blind until He takes the shells off.

The first passage is about the man with leprosy that heard about the things Jesus was doing, and went to him for healing. He trusted by faith, and begged to be healed. Our compassionate Savior reached out his hand and healed him.

This did not happen only when Jesus walked the earth. Jesus still reaches out his hand today to those who put their trust in him through faith. We have the Holy Spirit present with us that works wonders in our lifes.

Yes, not everyone will be physically healed here on earth. Through our physical suffering, others may be drawn to Christ by the way we handle it. Just like Paul pleaded to The Lord to take away the torn he hard on his flesh, God gave him grace to deal with the pain instead.

Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. (2 Corinthians 12:8, 9 NIV)

Jesus saw the faith of the friends of the paralytic man, and healed him.

Often, we go to God in doubt. We don't trust him enough with our all. I mean all our worries, anxiety, problems, health, relationships, money (it is His money anyways) you name the rest. He wants us to trust Him with everything. This can only be done through faith.

“If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and planted in the sea,’ and it will obey you. (Luke 17:6 NIV)

Please pray that God should give you the faith you need. As tiny as it can be, it will grow as you continue your walk with The Lord.
